Playershare.GG
A Fantasy Sports platform that enables users to buy and sell shares of their favorite eSports athletes using cryptocurrency.
I worked in a team of 4 people, for this project that lasted about 3 weeks. Our stakeholders had already conducted market research and key screens.
We were asked to:
Conduct user research to validate the design decisions of the initial platform
Iterate on the initial marketplace and portfolio pages, based on usability testing
Create user flow to create an account
Create user flow to buy and sell shares
Create a tutorial to educate new users how to use the platform.

My role consisted of conducting user interviews and usability testing, wireframing, user flows, and research documentation.

Why create this website?
I wanted to explore the appeal of fantasy sports, eSports, and cryptocurrency. Why are these things popular? What population does this platform serve? Without having much personal experience in these areas, I wanted to understand why fantasy sports, eSports, and cryptocurrency are so popular, and what elements could be incorporated into the Playershare platform.
How to define user?
Our team interviewed 14 people from the screener survey established by PlayerShare to learn more about the motivations and behavior of people regarding esports, fantasy sports, and cryptocurrency. From these interviews, we defined the persona and user journey from affinity mapping.

Users who enjoy eSports
Performance and personality of players are both really important.
Users love being part of a community.
Users who enjoy fantasy sports
Highly value league duration.
Users employ different tactics to make money depending on the length of league.
Users enjoy bragging rights when winning.
Lots of information is crucial when drafting and cutting leagues.
Users who used Bitcoin:
Users have either tried cryptocurrency and find it easy to use - or, users haven’t use cryptocurrency, and don’t trust it.
Process of Design
Our team conducted 3 rounds of iterations and 2 rounds of user testing.

First Iteration
We focused on creating key screens that include: login flow, an understandable marketplace, and a dashboard that contains the users’ current shares. Below are screens for the marketplace and dashboard.

The flow to buy/sell shares was in the form of a dropdown that appears whenever the user clicks on a player from the marketplace or the dashboard.

After testing, we found that the Marketplace was overwhelming. There was too much information and too many options, especially when users tried to buy and sell shares.

Second Iteration
For this iteration, I designed then Player Detail Page for each athlete to keep all of the information on that athlete. This page gives users the ability to buy or sell shares of this particular player. The Marketplace was too cluttered, and the benefit of a Player Detail Page is that the users can see all the information they would want to see for each player before committing to buying or selling. Tutorials have been added.

In addition, we integrated a concept of "GG score," "achievements" and "bonus" into the dashboard. GG score consists of points that users accumulate for being active on the website. Achievements are "trophies" of sorts, for completing certain tasks. Bonus are dividends that users earn. These capabilities were added to "gamify" the website and engage the user. Tutorials were also added for the achievements page.
Third Iteration
We added additional information for the account creation flow, dashboard, and made a hover-over on the marketplace page. We also added additional information and organized the information to the player detail page so that the page is readable and usable.

Final Thoughts
This project has been extremely challenging for me, mostly because of the scope. Coming into the project, I had very little knowledge of eSports, fantasy sports, cryptocurrency, and blockchain. To say that the learning curve was steep is an understatement. I had to learn quickly - or else I wouldn't be able to contribute to the project.

Once I grasped these areas, I was able to contribute my part in this project, and collaborate effectively with my team.
